Double circle postmark (Williams SAC-2580) on "Jeff Davis Getting to the White House" caricature and verse patriotic cover to Downieville, franked with 1861 1¢ blue, horiz pair + single tied by grid cancels, adhesive placed over pair 1857 1¢ with one partially torn away, slightly reduced at right and some wear, right stamp of pair with tiny defect, F.-V.F., a very rare design, particularly used in California.
