Clear strike of oval postmark (Williams SAC-2480) on 1850 cover to San Francisco, matching large "12½" rate handstamp and manuscript "Paid Postage $2n 12½ WmMS" in pencil with additional pen notation at lower left, edge wear and small cover tear at top, Very Fine, a lovely usage of the 12½¢ double letter rate, pictured in Letters of Gold.Estimate $400 - 600.

Clear strike of circular integral rate postmark (Williams SAC-2490) on 1850 folded letter to Roxbury, Mass., matching arched "Paid" handstamp above, left on the Maiden Mail Voyage of the Steamer Columbus at San Francisco on June 18th with "per Columbus" manuscript endorsement at top, Extremely Fine, pictured in Letters of Gold, ex Kramer.Estimate $750 - 1,000.
This cover did not receive the straightline "Per Columbus" as it already had entered the mails in Sacramento.
