Confederacy, (Alabama) Mobile, Ala., Jun 18, 1861, clear cds with matching "Paid 10" in diamond handstamp on cover addressed to Capt James Stewart, 3rd Ala. Reg. in Norfolk, Va., F.-V.F., used within the first month of the Confederate postal system.
Estimate    $200 - 300.

The 3rd Alabama Infantry Regiment fought many important battles during the war, including Seven pines, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville & Gettysburg with heavy casualties.

Pkt., 5, Feb 13" exchange cds and "24" rate handstamp, "1/-" due handstamp and reverse with red "London, Fe 25, 61" arrival cds, Very Fine, postmarked three days after Louisiana's admission to the Confederacy (on February 4th).

Sexton, Courier attached to Brig Genl, Daniel's Brigade" military courier endorsement at upper left, postmarked again two day later on March 14th due to improper endorsement, Extremely Fine and unusual, ex-Birkinbine.
