"Lieut. Worden of the Monitor", reddish violet portrait on cover to Williamstown, Vt., 1861, 3¢ rose (65) with "1863" manuscript date, matching "Woodburry (Vt) Jun 5" postmark, faults and minor repairs, Fine. Bischel No. 994.

Lieut. Worden survived the sinking of the Monitor and later served in various capacities, including USS Montauck, USS United States, Naval Academy and European Squadron, serving from 1832-86 and retiring as Rear Admiral.
