The "Steamer Boston" was a 574 ton sidewheel packet built in 1850 in New York. She ran the coast of Maine between 1855-1863 and later used by the U.S. Navy. On May 25, 1864 she was sunk by Confederate gun fire on the South Edisto River with the lost of 7 or 8 lives.
