New Orleans & Camden Packet Steamer Tigress (Mississippi and Ouachita Rivers), large red oval handstamp on cover to New Orleans, franked with 1857 3¢ Dull Red (Captured Imprint at left) tied by grid cancel with "New Orleans Not Called For" cds and straight line "Steam" handstamp alongside, cover with mended tear at top left & some discoloration around marking, otherwise Very Fine.

May 30" cds, cover with sealed flap tear which extends onto front, F.-V.F. appearance, a unique Great Lakes Steamboat marking.
Milgram No. 1380    Estimate $300 - 400.

This steamer was under US mail contract, therefore their would be no receiving Chicago postmark.
