Sep 18" cds with matching red "Way 11 cents" oval, some docketing at left, otherwise Very Fine, ex-Somdal, Illustrated in Milgram.

Light Draught Steamer Success! St. Louis & Fort Benton! (Missouri River), shield type illustrated corner card on cover Quincy, Ill, franked with 1861 3¢ Rose (65) tied by target and Sioux City, Iowa double circle postmark, additional "Received Apr 9 Quincy Ill" cds, small cover repairs, mostly across top, one of which affects corner card, F.-V.F. appearing, a very rare steamboat corner card, Illustrated in Milgram.

The "Success" constructed in 1867, operated from Cincinnati until March 1868 when Captain Thomas W. Rea purchased her and relocated to St. Louis for service on the Missouri River. Unfortunately, she was lost on the Arkansas River later that same year.
