Cin'ti & Kanawha Packet, Allen Collier (Ohio and Kanawha Rivers), complete blue circular handstamp on cover to Augusta, Ky, manuscript "with 2 boxes" and additional vertical "1864" docketing at left, small corner edge chip at bottom left, also included is 1864 printed & illustrated freight bill in black & red, Very Fine, Illustrated in Milgram.

Louisville and N. Orleans Packet, Steamer A.L. Shotwell (Ohio and Mississippi Rivers), attractive red ornate shield cameo corner card on cover to Warrenton, Miss, franked with 1851 3¢ Dull Red (small fault at bottom), tied by blue "Vicksburg, Miss Mar 4" cds, still Very Fine.
Milgram No. similar to 37, with red shield    Estimate $500 - 750.

A PRETTY COVER AND THE ONLY RECORDED EXAMPLE OF THIS CAMEO IN RED.

Regular Steamer Altoona (Illinois River), near complete but somewhat indistinct red oval on cover to Ill., manuscript "Order", attractive blue embossed cameo advertising corner card of "W.C. Boilvin & Co. Commission and Forwarding House, Peoria Ill.", also included is 1857 printed & illustrated freight bill, Very Fine, Marking Illustrated in Milgram.

From Alx. Scott, Sturgeon (Ohio and Mississippi Rivers), red oval handstamp on 1849 folded letter from Natchez to Louisville, postmarked blue straight line "Steam" handstamp of Louisville with manuscript "10" rate, Very Fine, a very rare and desirable marking, ex-Somdal.
Milgram No. 40    Estimate $300 - 400.

This vessel was known as the "Alex Scott" and has to be differentiated from the "Aleck Scott". The Captain was Edward T. Sturgeon.
