1857, 3¢ rose, type I, virtually perfect centering, beautifully clear strike of blue "Petersburg Va." town cancel, fresh & Extremely Fine, ex-Kirke & Morton; with 2000 P.F. & 2005 P.S.E. certificates, latter Graded (XF 90, SMQ $1,350), with only five graded higher.

AN OUTSTANDING GEM EXAMPLE OF THIS RARE 1857 3¢ ROSE TYPE II.

Why this is graded only "85" by the P.S.E., we will never understand. Only one graded higher (90) by the P.S.E.

1857, 3¢ dull red, type III, vertical pair, perfect centering with unusually large even margins for the issue, deep color, cancelled by two pretty strikes of Paid 3 in arc, Extremely Fine and choice; with 2003 P.F. & 2017 P.S.E. certificates, latter Graded (XF 90).

A STUNNING ITEM AND IS VERY RARE TO FIND A MULTIPLE OF THE 1857 3¢ IN THIS GEM CONDITION.
