1851, 1¢ blue, type II, Spectacular Bottom Margin Strip of 3 (positions 97-99L3) shows small light surface plate cracks throughout the strip, ample to large margins with a 14mm sheet margin at bottom, rich intense plate three color, central town cancel and additional manuscript on right stamp, Extremely Fine, ex-Warner, Ashbrook, Ward, B. D. Phillips, Cowitt, Allan Fox and Eubanks; signed Ashbrook, with 2021 P.F. certificate.

AN EXCEPTIONALLY EXQUISITE STRIP OF THREE OF THE 1851 1¢ ISSUE STAMPS FROM PLATE 3 WITH AN ENORMOUS BOTTOM MARGIN.

THIS IS THE RENOWNED "WARNER" STRIP, WHICH NEINKEN HAS DESCRIBED AS "A BEAUTIFUL AND EXTREMELY RARE PIECE, PERHAPS THE MOST VALUABLE STRIP OF SURFACE CRACKS FROM THIS PLATE."

This strip is featured and discussed in Neinken's book on pages 224-225. Undoubtedly, it stands as one of the most remarkable items from the elusive Plate 3.

1851, 1¢ blue, type II, big cracked plate flaw, plate 2, complete Reconstruction of the Major Crack Plate (Positions 2L2, 12L2-13L2 & 23L2), margins large to just touching, bold colors, neat unobtrusive town cancels, Very Fine, ex-Koppersmith; all except position 2L2 with P.F. certificate.

A CHOICE RECONSTRUCTION OF THE 1851 1¢ TYPE II SHOWING THE "BIG CRACK" PLATE FLAW.

The exact cause of the defect is unknown. As the plate was used, the width of the crack expanded due to stress exerted on the plate. This flaw caused the plate to be retired a little over a year after it was made.

1851, 1¢ blue, type II, plate flaw over "P" of "Postage", Position 5R2, clear to mostly large margins, rich vibrant color on bright paper, faint traces of cancel leaving virtually entire design visible, Very Fine, a choice example of this plate flaw variety; with 2002 P.F. certificate.

1851, 1¢ blue, type II, double transfer, Position 4R1L, top margin single showing plate bruise in selvage, wide margins showing portions of adjacent stamps on two sides, bright vibrant color, light town cancel, Extremely Fine and choice, this is the only position on Plate 1 Late that was not recut, ex-Zoellner; signed Ashbrook, with 1987, 2002 P.F. & 2008 P.S.E. certificates, the latter Graded (XF 90).
