Canal Zone, Postal History, lot of about 150 items (plus some fronts not counted) mainly composed of incoming mail from the 1900-60's, mostly early with many censored covers with main part being from the U.S. with a lot of Washington-Franklin frankings and with origins like Romania, U.K., Jamaica, others and several from many different South American countries, additionally has a small correspondence of 6 covers sent stampless from Jamaica from 1917 with due marks and each with Canal Zone due stamps applied cataloging $175 each; some mixed condition with an old time lot like this, but many surprises and good usages.

Danish West Indies, - Great Britain Used Abroad Postal History, 1866-73, nice group of 10 covers and 22 stamps/on piece items; covers with various Great Britain issues canceled by the barred "C51" oval cancellation, with usages to Halifax, N.S., Denmark, Demerara B.G., combination frankings to France, 1sh usages to London and interesting usage to Germany (missing a stamp), off cover items including 20 1sh QV issues arranged by plate no.'s; nice overall condition, worth proper review (See website for images).

Hawaii, Cover Balance, 1860-1900, of over 30 covers and cards in album; includes a couple 1859-60 stampless usages to New Bedford, Mass. and later early Banknote issue use, also a couple early local/inter-island usages, other material mostly later 1890's usages, 1899 oversized incoming from S.F., few cards, ad front and a few ephemera items and some mint issues; condition mixed mostly in early material.

Hawaii, - Portuguese Related Postal History, group of 17 items in album; includes inter-related items between New Bedford, Mass., Portuguese Colonies and Hawaii; with early 1845 whaling letter mentioning near Fyall (Fayal), H. Hempel correspondence items including wrapper usage, 1893 Koloa to Funchal, various usages from Portugal and Colonies to New Bedford and other eastern states, later Gonsalves & Co. usages, 1898 Hawaiian Government Lease document (Jose Gomes Serrao), 1902 Horta post card to Kekaha, Kauai, etc.; interesting group.

Hawaii, Mint Postal Stationery Accumulation, 1882-1893, stamp envelopes and postal cards in two albums, arranged according to the Hawaiian Study Group chronological listing in the UPSS catalog; postal entires mainly the U1-U5, U10-U12 issues in quantities with various shades, sizes and knifes noted, also includes a U7 & UE1, also a nice range of postal cards with occasional modest quantities; nice overall condition.

Lot 1444    

Hawaii, Postal Entire Collection, 1884-1900, of approximately 375 entires and a dozen or fronts identified and arranged in nine cover binders, most with entire and postmark data arranged according to the Hawaiian Study Group chronological listing in the UPSS catalog; each issue arranged by date with a nice showing of #U1 entires including nice show of indicia shades, several unaddressed handback entires, mostly local/inter-island usages with a nice array of postmarks from various towns, large showing of #U2 entires includes some foreign destination items including overseas and uprated entires, nice array of townmarks, etc., dozen or so #U3 entires with several overseas, #U4 mostly overseas (U.S. & Germany primarily), one with the fake Honolulu postmark, etc., similar #U5 entires, and a good showing of 1893 overprint entires with similar usages, some legal size entire usages, etc., collection contains two EKU's: a 2¢ rose, size 5 listed as PS-2 (10/14/84 to Germany) by Gregory and a 1¢ green, size 6 listed as PS 20 (3/2/86 to Honolulu) by Gregory; condition varies, a nice foundation of used stamp entires for further continuation.
Estimate    $2,500 - 3,500.

Hawaii, Uprated Postal Entires to Overseas Destinations, group of 24 entires mostly uprated with Banknote issues with a few later 1894-99 frankings; includes 1884 1¢ entire to Germany, various 2¢ entire usages to U.S. or Germany, few 4¢ entires, 5¢ entires with multiple uprates, 1893 entires including five registered usages; nice overall condition.

Hawaii, Postal Card Group, 1882-94, group of 17 used cards; mostly 1¢ cards with many printed notices, one with "Hilo Portuguese Sugar Mill Co., Ltd." handstamp, six Dead Letter cards with an array of marking including one with scarce "Not Called For" handstamp (1R), another with "Honolulu, Advertised" cds (1R) but card faulty, some postmark interest, etc.

Philippines, Postal History Collection, of approximately 100 covers/cards and some mint stationery in Lighthouse stock binder; covers virtually all addressed to California including early 1899 overprint with best being #215+218 registered usage from Manila, some nice and interesting later issues usages including various registered, O.B. handstamp overprint use, packet and ship usages, clipper mail during the commonwealth period, etc., few unused postal cards including scarce #U20 (cat $250).
