Hawaii, Envelope, 1884, 4¢ red, entire to Weisbaden, Germany, uprated with 1878, 1¢ violet + 1882, 5¢ ultramarine (30b+39) tied by target handstamp, matching "Honolulu, H.I. Oct 14" cds, reverse with N.Y. transit and "Weisbaden, 11.11.84" receiving postmark; small tone spot affecting 1¢, otherwise Very Fine, this being The Earliest Usage of the 1884 4¢ Entire.
Scott No. U3    Estimate $300 - 400.

On F. Gregory's "Post Office in Paradise" website, the earliest documented use of the 4¢ entire (U3) is February 14, 1885. This usage predates the recorded example by four months.

Hawaii, Envelope, 1884, 10¢ black, blue inside, front addressed to London, England, canceled by target handstamp with matching "Honolulu, H.I., Sep 1, 1886" cds alongside; file fold and a bit reduced at lower left, F.-V.F. for this, an "affordable" example of this extremely rare used 10¢ blue inside entire, with only three entire examples recorded in used condition with this being the earliest known usage.
