Canada leaving N.Y. on Dec. 11th and arriving in Liverpool Dec 21st, red London entry cds at lower left, Very Fine, an attractive and early 24¢ steel blue usage.

1862, 24¢ pale gray violet, thin paper, nice centered with rich color, tied by neat "Burlington, Vt., Apr 28, 1862" cds on cover to "London, England", with red "19" credit handstamp and London entry cds, Very Fine and choice, unlisted and unpriced on cover in the Scott catalog, with less than dozen on cover usages known; with 2024 P.F. certificate.

A WONDERFUL AND EXTREMELY RARE ON COVER EXAMPLE OF THE ELUSIVE 1862 24¢ PALE GRAY VIOLET ISSUE.

Routed through New York where it receiving the "19" credit handstamp. Carried aboard the Cunard Line steamship "Canada" which left New York on April 30th and arrived in Liverpool on May 11th.
