Quartsburg, Cal., April 1st (Mariposa), cds with manuscript date (MAR-1980) on cover to Clinton, N.Y., franked with 1851, 3¢ dull red, block of four (diagonal crease & internal tear) with pen stroke cancels, tiny stain ties the stamps, Very Fine.

Quincy, Cal., Jan 20, 1882 (Plumas), double line cds (PLU-1930) on oversized linen cover to Boston, Mass., franked with 1881, 3¢ blue green, horizontal strip of 6 and single (207) tied by target handstamps, docketed ""Argentine Mine", Map & letters, Jany 1882" at right; usual linen cover wear, missing backflap and stamp flaws including missing portions, F.-V.F. appearance.
Estimate    $150 - 200.

The Argentine Mine is located in Dolores county, Colorado at an elevation of 9,400 feet. It was discovered in 1875 with the mine company coming into existence the next year.

Enterprise Lodge, Yuba City Cal., original blue part-printed "Rough & Ready Lodge, No. 52, of F. & A.M." datelined "Rough & Ready, Jan 26 1856", Very Fine.

San Jose, Cal., Sep 27 (Santa Clara), cds (SCL-2680) on courthouse cover to San Leandro, Cal., bearing 1857, 1¢ blue, type V + 3¢ dull red, left guideline + 10¢ green, vertical pair (24, 26, 35), each canceled by open circular grid prepaying 8-times the 3¢ rate; 1859 courthouse docketing at left; cover reduced and restored, Very Fine appearance and attractive three-color franking.

Sargent, Cal., 1894 (Santa Clara), cds (SCL-3700) with matching target handstamp canceling on seven locally addressed 2¢ Columbian entires mailed between May 25th and Jun 29th; each with additional different Columbian issue denomination stamps, 1st with 30¢ Columbian, vertical strip of 5, pair and two singles (239), 2nd with 15¢ Columbian, horizontal strip of three, pair and single (238), 3rd with 10¢ Columbian, five singles (237), 4th with 8¢ Columbian, horizontal strip of three, pair and single (236), 5th with 6¢ Columbian, horizontal strip of 4, pair and single (235), 6th with 4¢ Columbian, horizontal strip of 4, pair and single (233), and 7th with 3¢ Columbian, horizontal strip of 4 and three singles (232), all canceled by target handstamps; most with light adhesive spot at right below indicia and 50¢ strip of 5 with edge flaws from slight cover overlap, Very Fine, a wonderful Columbian issue correspondence from California.
