Angels Camp, Cal., Feb 13 (Calaveras), cds on cover to Smithtown, N.Y. franked with 1862, 5¢ red brown, horizontal pair (small defects) with pen cancels, bottom backflap partly missing, otherwise Very Fine, a rare franking with the 5¢ red brown, illustrated in Coburn's Letters of Gold (page 29), ex-Myerson.

Camptonville, Cal., May 26, 1863 (Yuba), two strikes of cds (YUB-280) on cover to Leeds, England, franked with manuscript canceled 1861, 10¢ yellow green, three singles overpaying the 29¢ rate, with townmark tying one stamp, light red "New York, Am. Pkt., 20, Jun 3" exchange cds and London entry; right stamp with minor margin flaws at top, still Very Fine.

Sent overland and then carried on the first trip of North German Lloyd line steamer "America".

Centerville, Cal., Dec 30 (Alameda), cds with manuscript date (ALA-1240) tying well centered 1861 5¢ buff, horizontal pair on cover to Ohio, pair with bright fresh color & manuscript cancel, both with small flaw, cover slightly reduced at left, otherwise Very Fine, a rare multiple usage of the 5¢ buff issue.

(Inyo), address on four incoming covers from the Nathaniel Howard correspondence; first an 1864 3¢ pink entire (U58) with "Via Aurora" routing endorsement canceled by "Wells, Fargo & Co. Express, New York, Apr 11" blue origin, additional blue "Wells, Fargo & Co., Austin, N.T." oval transit date stamp and black company frank at top, second an 1864 3¢ pink entire (U58) with "per steamer, thence via Aurora" routing endorsement canceled by blue "Wells Fargo & Co. Express, New York, Mar 21" circular origin date stamp, third franked with pen canceled 1861, 3¢ rose (65) canceled by "New York, Jan 29" origin cds and endorsed "Overland", with light "Aurora, Nev, Feb 20" transit cds, cover forwarded to San Francisco and then to Springfield, Mass. with "San Francisco, Cal., Apr 5" cds and cogwheel duplex forwarder, and fourth franked with 1861, 3¢ rose (65, s.e. at right) canceled by target with matching "San Francisco, Cal., Nov 8" cds alongside, F.-V.F. or better.
Estimate    $2,000 - 3,000.

The Chrysopolis post office was opened for a short period from May 28th, 1866 to March 25, 1867. No postmarks are recorded from Chrysopolis and these four covers are believe to be the only surviving covers addressed to Chrysopolis.

Cordelia, Cal., Aug. 16 (Solano), manuscript postmark (SOL-550, R4) on 1869 cover to Ticino, Switzerland, franked with 1867, 3¢ red, F. grill, horizontal strip of four and single tied by manuscript cancels paying the fifteen cent rate, light red New York exchange cds and Locarno transit backstamp; cover missing most of backflap, otherwise Very Fine.

Dry Creek, Cal., Mar 17 (Yuba), red cds with manuscript day (YUB-540) on cover to Troy, O., franked with 1851, 10¢ green, type I, bottom margin single tied by pen cancel, with original enclosure datelined "Long Bar, Mar 1st, 1857"; soiling and wear with a cover sideflap missing, Fine, a rare town postmark.

Dry Town, Cal., Sept 17 (Amador), manuscript postmark (AMA-230) on cover to Massachusetts franked with 1851, 3¢ dull red, vertical margin pair (large margins including sheet margin at left, light vert. crease) with "X" pen cancels, tied by "Due 4" manuscript marking (due 4¢ to make up the 10¢ transcontinental rate after April 1, 1855), Very Fine and scarce.
