Prospecting Miners, blue illustrated cameo design on cover with to Illinois franked with manuscript cancelled 1857 1¢ blue type V two singles + 3¢ dull red type II (assumed) and 5¢ brown type I (all with scissor, most perfs missing) postmarked "Oregon House (Cal.), June 10" manuscript postmark, "Due 10" straight line handstamp ties the 3¢ and 5¢ adhesives, cover strengthened with paper inside, some edge restoration, handsome Very Fine appearance, a stunning Western Illustrated Cover, ex-Knapp, Wiltsee & Polland.

Put's California Envelope, illustrated miners design depicting Miners At Breakfast Table and Promoter Outside Doorway with slogan "California and Miners' Rights" at bottom and satiric verse showing disdain for promoters, on cover to Rockland, Me. with blue "Greenwood, Cal., Jan 2" cds with matching Paid handstamp and manuscript "10" rate, Very Fine, illustrated in Kutz Gold Fever (page 60), ex-Kutz & Jarrett.

Hutchings' California Envelope design on cover to Romulus, N.Y., with two strikes of "Downieville, Cal., Oct 2" cds and manuscript "Due 10cts" notation above, uncancelled 1857, 10¢ green, type V (35) which mostly likely added after deficiency noted; some cover edge wear with top left corner added and 10¢ may have been added, F.-V.F., only eight examples recorded of this design, ex-Wiltsee.

What Cheer House, San Francisco, allover illustrated What Cheer House design on reverse of "Woodside, Cal., Feb 18" (San Mateo), manuscript postmarked (SAM-2420) cover to Meredith, N.Y., franked with manuscript canceled 1857, 3¢ dull red, two singles, with original 1860 enclosure with full page on printed text graphically describing What Cheer House, and letter describing voyage from N.Y. to San Francisco and early experiences in S.F.; cover wear and small stain, F.-V.F.
