Blood & Co., Blood's Despatch, Feb 18, 8 A.M., clear cds on embossed bordered Valentine cover to New Castle, Pa., in combination with 1851, 3¢ orange brown (10A) with margins ample to slightly in at bottom left, tied by blue "Philadelphia, Pa., Feb 18" cds, 1862 docketing on backflap, with original matching embossed bordered Valentine enclosure with hand written 8-line poem; cover with a couple small edge tears, otherwise Very Fine.

Blood's Despatch, Special Messenger, serrated circular handstamp on two oversized Valentine covers; includes floral embossed cover with #15L14 and #11 locally addressed with manuscript 7¢ notation below (with enclosure), large locally addressed cover with five #15L13 arranged in a cross with Feb 16 company date stamp (cover deeply acidified), also includes and a folded Penny Dreadful with multicolored illustration of "the Bachelor" pitch forked by and slung over the shoulder of the devil, with "Blood's City Despatch 2cts." double circle handstamp on face; condition varies, Fine and interesting.

Blood & Co., 1854 (1¢) bronze on lilac, vertical strip of three, margins ample to a bit in, acid canceled on large locally addressed enamel Valentine cover, clear "Blood's Despatch, Special Messenger" fancy serrated circular handstamp and pencil "3 /5¢" at lower left noting the 3¢ prepayment and total of 5¢ for the special same day delivery rate (2¢ apparently paid in cash); cover with vertical file fold and missing backflap, otherwise Very Fine, a rare local special delivery rate usage, ex-Steinmetz, Haas & Stimmell.

Boyd's City Express Post, Feb 14, oval Valentine's Day date stamp on embossed locally addressed folded ladies Valentine, with hand written 9-line Vinegar Valentine poem with last line…And came alas! too near being smitten, With all of these three who sent me ending with an "A" on a felt mitten (sewn on letter) and dated "Valentines Day 1851"; cover soiling, F.-V.F., a very interesting and rare hand written vinegar Valentine.
