1861, 1¢ blue, well centered, nibbed perf, tied by blue "Chicago, Ill., Feb 18, 1863" cds and target duplex on embossed Valentine cover to local post box, original enclosed multicolored embossed Valentine card with printed message: "Declaration. I am thine love for ever."; small taped edge tear at right, otherwise Very Fine and attractive use, ex-Haas.

1861, 1¢ blue, dot in "U", intense color, tied by neat target handstamp on locally addressed embossed Valentine cover showing Women Under Arched Trelice and Floral Border, matching "Rockville Con., Feb 14, 1862" cds, original embossed valentine enclosure with multicolored sticker and handwritten sentiment, ex-Wilson Hulme.

1861, 3¢ rose, tied by "Washington D.C., Feb 10" cds on oversized cover front with backflap with allover illustrated Romeo & Juliet Farewell Patriotic Valentine design in red and blue showing lovers in embrace with Cupid at Desk at right, with matching enclosure of soldier reading letter which opens to show couple holding hand, with Love and Patriotism verse below; sealed front tears and some edge nicks, Fine, still an attractive example of this rare Valentine patriotic and enclosure.

Conn Vols., 3rd Brigade, 3rd Division, 24th Army Corp., Via Fortress Monroe Va.; with Charles Magnus hand tinted song sheet, "My Loved One", used as a Valentine, Very Fine; with 2023 P.F. certificate (declining opinion on enclosure origination).

1861, 3¢ rose, rich color, tied by fancy six point star handstamp on ornamental embossed bordered Valentine cover to South Charleston, O., meticulously hand painted in various colors including "Speed The Soft Intercourse From Soul To Soul" verse in gold, matching light "Clifton, O., Mar 28" cds, Very Fine, quite striking; with 1996 P.F. certificate.
