Hawaii, 1866, King Kamehameha V, 5¢ blue, faulty, on yellow cover (Honolulu, Mar. 17, 1869) addressed to Isaac White, Philadelphia Pa. with red "Hawaiian Steam Service" oval handstamp, tied by "San Francisco Cal. Mar 29" cds duplexed with circle of V's that ties U.S. 1867, 10¢ green, E. grill (89), well centered within large margins, manuscript "ships letter" at top left, reverse with "Philada., Pa., Received, Apr. 23" arrival cds; light soiling, F.-V.F., ex-Advertiser; signed by Ashbrook on reverse.

Cover carried on 17th contract trip by American steamer "Idaho" from Honolulu Mar. 17th to San Francisco arriving Mar. 28th. Entered mails with San Francisco Mar. 29th postmark for transmittal via overland mail. The lack of Honolulu markings and the ship letter endorsement indicates that this cover was mailed at the wharf.

Hawaii, 1871, King Kamehameha IV, 6¢ yellow green, horizontal pair, tied by quartered cork cancels and red "G.P.O. Honolulu, Paid All, Feb 5" cds (MH 277.12) on 1872 cover to Boston, Mass., red "San Francisco, Paid All, Feb 22" transit postmark; cover slightly reduced at left, Very Fine.

Sent aboard the American bark "Comet" departing Honolulu on February 5th and arriving in San Francisco on February 22nd.
