Hawaii, (Hawaii) Waimea, H., May 5, manuscript postmark (817, Gregory 1RRRR) on cover to Lahaina, Maui, franked with manuscript canceled 1875, 2¢ brown (35) and tied by target with "Post Office, Kawaihae H.I., May 6, 1882" transit cds (238.02) alongside, partial receiver at left, Very Fine, with only four on cover strikes recorded by Gregory.
Estimate    $500 - 750.

The Postmasters of Waimea were Rev. Lorenzo Lyons (1858-1886) and Miss E. W. Lyons (1886-1900). Parker Ranch was headquartered nearby and the town was also site of the mission run by Lorenzo Lyons.
