Mexico, 1866, Emperor Maximilian (engraved), 7c lilac, Mexico, cons 11-1867, neat Mexico town cancel, margins huge to just shaving design at bottom, strong purplish lilac shade, Very Fine for this (N.F. $6,000), ex-Liera, Rosenthal, Langue & Rodriguez; with 1972 & 1993 M.E.P.S.I. certificates.

A SOUND USED EXAMPLE OF THE 1866 7C MAXIMILIAN ENGRAVED ISSUE - A GREAT CLASSIC MEXICO RARITY.

Only eight examples of the 7c Maximilian engraved issue are recorded in used condition with several are known damaged. This is one of the finest examples and has not been available at auction in over 25 years.

Mexico, 1867, Gothic "Mexico", 2r black on pink, enormous margins and faint but discernible impression, on late folded letter dated April 12, 1868 to Guanajuanto, tied by Mexico date stamp cancel, Very Fine, most likely the faintest stamp recorded on a Gothic cover.
