Jones & Russell was started by William H. Russell and his partners, it was taken over by the Central Overland California and Pike's Peak Express Co. of Pony Express fame when its debts became too burdensome.

Jul 4" with straight line "Paid 10" alongside paying the transcontinental rate, the indicia has been crossed as the 10¢ rare is fully paid, Very Fine an attractive postal usage, ex-Chase; with 2008 P.F. certificate.
