AN IMPRESSIVE 1869 PICTORIAL MULTIPLE, APART FROM THE 3¢ 1869 (WHICH EXISTS IN SHEETS), ONE OF THE LARGEST BLOCKS OF THE 1869 ISSUE AND HAS NOT APPEARED ON THE AUCTION MARKET SINCE A 1982 SIEGEL RARITIES OF THE WORLD AUCTION.

The 1869 mono chrome issues (1¢ - 12¢) were printed in sheets of 300 and divided into two panes of 150 examples. Whereas the 1869 Bi-Color issues (15¢ - 90¢) were printed in sheets of 100.

This sheet represents a portion of the right pane showing the dividing arrows on the fifth and 10th rows. It is thought that these guide arrows were placed so that the sheets of 150 could be easily divided by the Post Office into blocks of 50 examples.
