Langton's Pioneer Express, from Downieville, black on yellow label affixed to reverse of 3¢ pink (U59) buff entire with printed Langton's Pioneer Express frank to Sacramento, manuscript "Valuable" and pencil "Paid" notations, exchanged with "Wells Fargo & Co.'s Express From Marysville" black on orange label at upper right and partly folded over the top, some abrasions, edge creases, slightly reduced at right, a rare money letter conjunctive usage, ex-Hackett.Estimate $500 - 750.
This money letter was carried by Langston's Express from Downieville to Marysville. Turned over to Wells Fargo from Marysville to Sacramento.
Samuel Langton started in the express business in 1850 and his express had various lines in California and Nevada until a year after his accidental death in 1864.

Langton's Pioneer Express, from "Unionville", black on yellow label with manuscript "Unionville" town designation used in conjunction with black on red "Wells, Fargo & Co's Express, From 'Nevada' " label with manuscript Nevada City town designation, on orange legal-size cover to San Francisco, Very Fine and rare conjunctive Langton-Wells Fargo use, ex-Hackett.Estimate $750 - 1,000.
Examples of Western Express Company Labels used conjunctively on cover are exceedingly rare, and this cover, carried over the same route as that used by Langton's Humboldt Express, is a prime example of such a usage.

The Pacific Express railcar comer-card, often described as a printed frank, was used in the northwest in the early 1880s by the Northern Pacific Railroad. The label uses shown below prove the Pacific Express name and comer-card was used by other railroads in areas not served by the Northern Pacific.
