Great Britain, 1887, Queen Victoria Jubilee, 2½d green on yellow, trial color on wove, watermark Crown, perf 14, o.g., neatly hinged once, strong color on fresh brilliant paper, nice centering and margins, Very Fine and choice, a remarkable trial produced to demonstrate how to avoid the newly discovered threat of photographic forgery, ex-Weiss & Besançon. SG Nos. 201TC.

AN EXTREMELY RARE EXAMPLE OF THE 1887 2½D GREEN ON YELLOW JUBILEE TRIAL COLOR.

On November 23, 1887, De La Rue's attention was drawn to the problems caused by the new art of photography. They prepared a report on the subject dated January 26, 1888 which included line perf 14 color trials of the 2½d, 3d & 6d values on colored paper different from those issued.
